Tony Perkins of SGS and I hosted our first annual pheasant hunt at Indian Creek for post 9/11 vets today. We had 10 Vets and plenty of birds. We managed to raise about $7,000 for this event that went directly to the vets. Not only did they get a day of guided hunting but also we had a variety of gifts ranging from Luxury Box Seats for the Devils vs. Bruins, a shotgun, blast and cast turkey and trout trip, free taxidermy mounts and a variety of other cool gifts.
It was amazing that we could put this together in a month and have such tremendous support. We had five dog handlers, five support people and the staff of Indian Creek who all donated their time. I just want to give a huge thanks to Tony, the handlers, the support team, the Indian Creek staff and all the SGS staff members that helped come together to put on this amazing event!!! We also had some of our major sponsors support the event and I wanted to thank SGS, Hevi-Shot, Primos and Survival Straps for fully backing our function. NJH member Newbreedhunter (Mike) helped by donating a case of shot for the event as well and as you can see we used it up!!!
We had an amazing time up there…the dogs were amazing to watch work. We each got to experience a unique opportunity. Some groups went out in the morning and got to hunt behind flushing dogs and the others hunted behind pointers then after we had our lunch and prize give away we all swapped so each member got to try both methods and each way was awesome!!!
Thanks again to everyone involved in this event, there will be many more to come and mostly, thank you to our Vets/Heroes for all that you have done to keep our Country safe and we cannot thank you enough!!!
