Success Story #28: New Jersey Bottom Fish Beat Down, Jordan, Doug, Justin and Paul

A few months back Hunters Helping Heroes was contacted by Hubris Sportfishing to see if we were interested in gathering up 4 local military folks for a donated charter trip, we jumped on the offer and started lining up dates and guys for the trip. Our initial trip for stripers got pushed because of really rough seas, we went out the following week looking for them. We brought down 3 Active Duty guys from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and an Air Force Veteran.  We all loaded up in the boat and after breaking the inlet we didn’t see a bunker for miles…instead of trolling in the cooler waters that the recent weather pushed in, we opted to go hit some wrecks and try out luck there. The first drift while trying to get right on the wreck we had 4 rods go off! Shortly after that we were anchored in place and laid the hammer to the sea bass from then on out. It was drop and reel fishing for hours upon hours with everyone on board having a blast! We ended the day with 74 keeper sea bass and 2 keeper fluke and we probably released another 150+ short bass. The Angelina Marie crew, Brian Suschke and Ryan DiBiagio showed everyone the best tactics for fishing the wrecks and then unhooked fish, re-baited rods and kept everyone aboard laughing the entire day. I can’t say enough for Hubris Sportfishing coming to us with such an amazing donated trip and for the crew that led us on the sea bass destruction mission…you can’t go wrong with these guys and they are right out of Forked River, New Jersey. If you want to get after striper, wreck fishing, sharks, tuna or anything else around…give Brian a call to schedule the trip of a lifetime (609) 439-8242 or visit their webpage
